Chemical Safety Goes Beyond the SDS

On August 10, Taiwan's Occupational Safety and Health Administration announced an upcoming seminar on SDS hazard information management for upstream chemical suppliers, reinforcing the importance of chemical hazard identification and workplace risk management.

But in chemical, petrochemical, semiconductor-material and other industrial environments where flammable gases, vapors or combustible dust may be present, chemical safety cannot stop at the SDS.

The next questions are equally important:

Hazard Identification → Hazardous Area Review → Electrical Equipment → Lighting Safety

Taiwan OSHA's guidance for explosive hazardous areas also emphasizes that electrical equipment and wiring should be selected and installed according to hazardous-area conditions and applicable standards such as CNS 3376-14 and IEC 60079-14.

As facilities review chemical hazards and workplace risks, it is also an opportunity to reassess whether hazardous-area lighting delivers the required safety, compliance and energy performance.
