Scope of Application: General outdoor lighting, industrial lighting, and explosion-proof lighting equipment.

 

I. Maintenance Objective

Regardless of the product warranty period, all outdoor lighting equipment should undergo routine inspection and necessary maintenance at least once a year.

The purpose is to prevent corrosion and aging caused by rain, moisture, salt spray, sunlight, dust, and industrial pollution. This ensures equipment safety, structural integrity, and lighting performance while extending the product's service life.

 

II. Basic Inspection Items

The following items must be inspected at least annually:

1. Housing & Coating: Check if the fixture housing or coating exhibits blistering, peeling, chalking/whitening, oxidation, or corrosion.

2. Joints & Accumulation Areas: Check for abnormalities at the outer edges of joint surfaces, around screws, at corners, and in areas prone to water or salt accumulation.

3. Hardware & Mounting: Verify if screws, fasteners, and mounting brackets are loose, rusted, or damaged.

4. Seals & Cables: Inspect the glass, seals, cable glands, and cables for any signs of damage, aging, or water ingress.

5. Lighting Performance: Observe if the luminaire exhibits abnormal flickering, decreased brightness, partial illumination failure, or any other abnormal phenomena.

 

III. Anti-Corrosion Maintenance Principles

• Harsh Environments: For coastal, high salt spray, high humidity, petrochemical, chemical, or highly polluted environments, in addition to annual inspections, it is recommended to evaluate the condition of the anti-corrosion coating every 2 to 3 years.

• Immediate Action: If coating damage, chalking, oxidation, or initial corrosion is detected, clean the area immediately and perform necessary localized anti-corrosion treatment. Do not wait for the corrosion to spread.

• Surface Preparation: Do not apply paint directly over surfaces with salt deposits, oxides, corrosion products, or loose old paint.

 

IV. Precautions for Explosion-Proof Lighting

• No Modifications: Explosion-proof lighting equipment must not be arbitrarily machined, ground, or modified at the explosion-proof joints. The originally certified structure must not be altered.

• Compliance: If maintenance involves explosion-proof structures, joints, or internal components, it must be executed strictly in accordance with the product-specific manual and the original certification requirements. If necessary, contact THT-EX for confirmation.

 

V. Maintenance Records

The user entity should establish its own equipment inspection and maintenance records. Relevant personnel should be designated to perform these tasks regularly to facilitate long-term equipment management and abnormality tracking.

 

VI. Usage and Liability Disclaimer

• Warranty Limitation: The product warranty cannot replace standard equipment inspection and routine maintenance.

• User Liability: If the user entity fails to perform the necessary regular inspections, cleaning, anti-corrosion treatments, or maintenance as outlined in this manual, and this failure results in equipment damage, functional failure, or safety incidents due to corrosion, aging, loosening, water ingress, or other preventable factors, the resulting equipment loss, public safety accidents, or related legal liabilities do not fall within the product liability scope of THT-EX.

• Manufacturer Liability: If the cause of an incident is directly related to defects in the product's design, manufacturing, or materials, liability will still be determined based on the actual circumstances of the individual case and the relevant warranties, contracts, and laws.

 

THT-EX Maintenance Principles: Annual inspection, immediate handling of abnormalities, enhanced anti-corrosion in severe environments, and continuous maintenance to extend equipment lifespan.
